Switzerland had been banned from holding car races in the wake of the 1955 Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race.

However, a legislative amendment allowing only EV races to be held was carried out in December 2015, and was lifted from 2016.

Formula E will be held in Zurich in 2018.

This time Zurich was held in Bern due to the summer festival once in three years in July.
