Thyssenkrupp to set up 3D printing centre in Singapore
German engineering group Thyssenkrupp
has announced plans to establish an additive manufacturing centre in Singapore..
The new facility, which Thyssenkrupp said is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), will operate in several defence-adjacent domains including automotive, capital goods, and chemical, mining, and other heavy industries.
The centre will also look to leverage 3D printing capabilities developed through a similar facility launched in Germany in 2017.
Plans to establish the centre follow Thyssenkrupp’s announcement in February that its shipbuilding subsidiary, Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), signed an agreement with Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to collaborate on additive manufacturing and data analytics for naval applications.
