Nikon | News | Nikon releases the Lasermeister 101A, an optical processing machine

TOKYO-

Nikon Corporation (Nikon)

is pleased to announce the release of the Lasermeister 101A, an optical processing machine.

This industry-leading system

optically processes various metals with ultra-high precision using a laser.

The Lasermeister 101A

provides additive manufacturing capabilities like a 3D printer,

while also enabling laser marking and welding. The Lasermeister 101A.

Nikon and DMG MORI CO., LTD.

concluded a memorandum of understanding for comprehensive business alliance in November 2019 ,and a formal agreement was completed in March 2020.

The contract also includes sales consignment, which together with DMG MORI will expand Lasermeister 101A sales.

Utilizing Nikon’s technical capabilities to develop a condensing lens and laser independently

“Laser meister 100A”: Laser focusing unit

Two major technological developments have contributed to the background of the compact design.

The first one:

This is an original development of a condenser lens.

With the technical capabilities of the optical maker/Nikon, “We have realized optical performance optimized for various metal processing functions and further weight reduction”

Use the smallest glass possible,
While limiting the number of sheets
Provides sufficient optical performance

In-house developed a lightweight condenser lens.

If it’s heavy, you’ll need sturdy struts and beams to support the lens.
Inevitably, the motor for moving the laser focusing unit also becomes large.

That is, the weight and size of the device are increased.

The light and small size of the condenser lens is a big difference from other companies’ products.”

Second:

Development of laser that supports realization of compact design.

The laser is a very expensive metal 3D printer component.

It is common to use high power fiber lasers.

Direct diode laser: adopted

The Lasermeister 100A uses a direct diode laser, which was jointly developed with an overseas manufacturer.

At the same time as reducing the cost, we devised the exhaust heat.

Achieved compact size without piping and chiller (cooling water circulation device).
