JXTG and BYD Japan (China’s EV / BYD Japan Corporation) announced on December 23 that they will start collaborating on “EV Bus Storage Battery: Building a Recycling Model for Lease, Reuse and Recycling.”

In order to build a circulation model, in the spring of 2020, start a demonstration test of EV bus operation with a bus operator.

Construction of circulation model:

Both companies,

Lease (primary use): Leasing storage batteries for EV buses to bus operators (primary use),
Reuse (secondary use): Recover used batteries on the EV bus and reuse them as stationary storage batteries (secondary use),
Recycling (tertiary use): Separate reused storage batteries at the material level and use them for new materials

EV bus operation: demonstration experiment

In the demonstration test of EV bus operation, information such as operation data and storage battery consumption will be collected.

In addition, a verification test of “reusing used storage batteries of EV buses as stationary storage batteries” will be conducted.

We aim to establish this circulation model by 2025.

JXTG:

Developed gas stations under the ENEOS brand, the largest distributor of petroleum in Japan.

The company has know-how in the power business and metal recycling, which are expected to utilize storage batteries.

BWD Japan:

In March 2019, a small EV bus was developed in Japan as a specification for the Japanese market. Pre-order starts on March 25, 2019,

The car will be delivered from the spring of 2020. The price is 19.5 million yen (excluding tax) and the sales target is 1,000 units in five years.
