We are developing a device that finds stimulants in the body by applying electromagnetic waves.
It will be introduced at the airport ahead of next year’s Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Stopping stimulant smuggling:
The Ministry of Finance’s “Central Customs Analysis Center” is developing in collaboration with companies in Osaka University and Yamagata Prefecture.
Detected by radio waves:
On a person’s abdomen or hip
By hitting “radio waves”
Whether there are any ingredients in the stimulant
It can be inspected in about 1 minute.
There is no adverse effect on the body due to the test.
Smuggling of stimulants:
Last year, there were 425 cases of stimulant smuggling caught by customs at airports and ports nationwide.
The seizure amount reached a record high of 2570 kg.
Smuggling techniques:
More than half of the cases caught, 229, were brought in by passenger planes.
Of these, 26 cases had stimulants hidden in the body, such as swallowing.
