Ascot Launches Bermuda Reinsurer with US$ 1 Billion Infusion from CPPIB
Global specialty insurance underwriter Ascot Group Limited has announced that it has received approval from the Bermuda Monetary Authority to launch Ascot Reinsurance Company Limited (Ascot Re) as a Class 3B reinsurance company on the British island territory.
The unit’s birthing was made possible by a US$ 1 billion infusion of capital from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), which acquired Ascot Group from American International Group (AIG) in September 2016 for US$ 1.1 billion.
