🔥⛈Swiss Re’s Sigma pegs 2017 cat losses at $136bn.
Insured losses are likely to more than double year-on-year in 2017 to $136bn, according to Swiss Re’s latest Sigma report, making this year one of the costliest ever for catastrophes.
The estimate is the third highest claims figure since Sigma started collecting data in 1970.
It is well above the $58bn annual average of the prior 10 years and compares with catastrophe losses of $65bn in 2016, the report said.
