China displays new armed unmanned surface vehicle. 15 December 2017
China unveiled what it claims to be the world’s fastest armed unmanned surface vehicle (USV) during the All China Maritime Conference and Exhibition (Marintec China) held between 5 and 8 December in Shanghai.
Citing the Science and Technology Daily , Chinese news website ecns.cn reported on 15 December that the new USV, called the Tianxing-1, has a full-load displacement of 7.5 tonnes, is 12.2 m long, and can reach a top speed of 92.6 km/h (50 kt) using a hybrid power source.

Beijing continues construction work on disputed South China Sea islands, says report. Country Risk 15 December 2017
While tensions over territorial disputes in the South China Sea (SCS) may have eased in recent months, Beijing has continued to carry out substantial construction activities on its dual-use facilities in the Spratly and Paracel Islands, according to a 14 December report by the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Based on the analysis of commercial satellite imagery, AMTI pointed out that China has built infrastructure covering some 72 acres, or around 290,00 m², at Fiery Cross, Subi, and Mischief reefs in the Spratlys, and North, Tree, and Triton islands in the Paracels.
