Deep Sea Exploration: Oceanographic Org and NHK New Development – Deep Sea Camera with 8K
Marine Engineering Center, NHK jointly developed the 8K Super Hi – Vision camera for the deep sea (U8K – SHV: Underwater 8K Super Hi – Vision camera) .
Successful acquisition of ultra-high definition images in deep ocean hydrothermal fields.
Conventionally, deep sea / underwater cameras are mainly based on high-definition camera technology.
However, this high definition camera has a problem of image quality (resolution).
It is impossible to accurately grasp the details of the ocean floor environment, living things, minerals, etc.
In order to improve the image level, optimization of underwater optical propagation technology (lighting technology) is indispensable, in addition to speeding up the large capacity optical transmission technology in the sea.
