Fire in Johannesburg Provincial High-Rise Burns for More Than Two Days
The South African Defense Force (SANDF) was moving to render assistance to extinguish a fire that had been raging in Bank of Lisbon building in the Johannesburg CBD since September 5 and has already claimed the lives of three firefighters.
The SANDF said in a statement on September 6 that the Chief of the Division‚ General Solly Shoke‚ had instructed the Chief of the South African Air Force (CAF)‚ Lieutenant-General Zimpande Msimang‚ to make available fire-fighting trucks and a helicopter to assist the local Emergency Services to extinguish the fire.
