Pola Museum of Art: Pablo Picasso “Discovery of the mother and child at the beach” New discovery by survey

A survey based on science technology used in Mars exploration revealed the application of “newspaper” to the lower level

In the joint survey with the Washington National Gallery (Washington, USA) Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Canada) conducted in April 2018, the Pola Museum of Art (Kanagawa Prefecture · Hakone Town), Pablo Picasso ” I discovered the existence of a new lower part of the mother-child image of the beach “(1902 – collection of the Pola Museum of Art).

This survey was conducted using a hyperspectral imaging scanner that can obtain information on the components of the object in a non-destructive and non-contact manner, thereby revealing extensive “newspaper” application to this work.

We will announce a joint release with Washington National Gallery on this survey result.
