Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) is pleased to announce it has come to an
agreement with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Mitsui”) such that Marubeni will acquire an
additional 0.46% interest in Minera Los Pelambres from Mitsui. As a result of this transaction,
Marubeni’s interest in Minera Los Pelambres will increase from 8.75% to 9.21%.
Minera Los Pelambres, jointly operated by Antofagasta PLC (hereinafter, “Antofagasta”) and
Japanese consortiums, one of which includes Marubeni, is one of the world’s leading copper
mines, producing approximately 400 thousand tonnes of copper per annum. The company also
