Naval Group:
On April 2nd, we received an order for two Scorpene Evolved-Full LiBs from Indonesia.
According to the contract, two submarines will be built by PT PAL.
Following the Dutch Navy, France has successfully won a submarine order from the Indonesian Navy.
France and Indonesia:
In February 2022, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the procurement of Scorpene-class submarines was signed.
What is Scorpene Evolved?
A model in which the lead-acid battery of the Scorpene-class submarine was replaced with a lithium-ion battery.
Submarine propulsion system:
1. A combination of AIP engine + lithium ion storage battery,
2. There are two types: lithium-ion storage battery.
The former requires AIP-grade hydrogen or liquid oxygen infrastructure.
Indonesia chose the Scorpene Evolved-Full LiB type.
Transfer of technology to PT PAL:
Under this agreement, Naval Group will transfer technology to PT PAL.
Indonesia will take the lead in the construction, operation, and maintenance of submarines.

2. France cooperates in building sovereignty for the benefit of Indonesia.
Scorpene Evolved specs:

1. Displacement: 1,600 tons to 2,000 tons, total length: 72 m.

It has a continuous operation time of 80 days, a cruising range of 8,000 nautical miles, and an annual operating rate of 240 days.
Evolved’s battle management system:
1. Made in Italy, Black Shark, Made in France, F21,
2. Exocet’s underwater launch, D-19 can be launched from torpedo tubes.
Pre-integrated multifunctional UUV:
It can be used for applications such as ISR, electronic warfare, anti-submarine warfare, mine warfare, smart mines, and training.
Scorpene Evolved is also likely to be proposed to the Philippine Navy.
Naval Group bags contract for two Scorpene Evolve
Naval Group has partnered with the French government’s Directorate General of the Treasury to fully fund the programme via three sources of loans.
These include a credit facility with France’s Banque publique d’investissement
a direct loan from the Directorate General of the Treasury, which would fund up to 85% of Naval Group’s portion of the contract.
