After China’s ban on imports of Japanese seafood:
“Exports of Japanese scallops from Japan to Vietnam” increased dramatically.
1. In 2023, exports to Vietnam were 800 million yen.
2. In 2024, it was 10.6 billion yen, an increase of 1191% (1291%) from the previous year.
Actual survey of the background to the increase:
This time, JETRO visited 16 scallop processing companies and interviewed them about the handling situation.
1. During the interviews, it was revealed that many Vietnamese companies have acquired scallop processing techniques.
2. There were also some cases where companies have developed their own overseas sales channels.
