Hitachi Zosen: Development and sale of “Sterilization / Decontamination Pass Box” for Sterilization for Regenerative Medicine
~ Sterilization time can be reduced to 1/10 or less ~
Outline of electron beam sterilization / decontamination pass box
In developing this equipment, we are planning to develop a passbox system with electron beam sterilizer in collaboration with Hitachi Zosen and Osaka University Engineering Department, and develop this device jointly with Hitachi Zosen and JGC to commercialize it.
This equipment sterilizes / decontaminates by irradiating the culture instrument such as a petri dish with electron beams from above and below. With a low power and compact electron beam generator, it enables space saving and highly efficient sterilization and decontamination.
Also, because it is a dry method that does not use chemicals or water, there is little environmental burden and there is no residual risk of drugs.
In the case of a typical petri dish, when compared with the sterilization / decontamination processing time, it can be shortened from about 4 hours of the conventional method to about several minutes.
