US arrests two over Ghosn’s escape to Lebanon
US authorities
have arrested two Americans for their alleged role in smuggling former Nissan Motor Chairman Carlos Ghosn to Lebanon from Japan.
Ghosn fled Japan on a private jet via Turkey late December last year while on bail.
Tokyo prosecutors
in January obtained arrest warrants for former US Green Beret Michael Taylor and his son Peter Taylor. They were arrested in Massachusetts on Wednesday.
The move is in line with a Japan-US treaty ratified in 2004
that allows investigative authorities in both countries to work together without going through diplomatic channels.
