The Wall Street Journal says Washington is considering strengthening export controls and entirely cutting off Huawei from US suppliers, due to concerns over national security.
In 2019, the previous US administration announced that government approval would be needed to export technology to Huawei.
The administration
alleged that the Chinese company was engaged in activities that went against US national security interests.
Washington has so far allowed exports of less critical products.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken plans to visit China in February, as the world’s two largest economies escalate their fight for tech dominance.
